For over ten years, Restaurant 301 has held the distinguished Wine Spectator Grand Award, the only Grand Award between San Francisco and Seattle. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon only 74 other restaurants in the world. Our Grand Award Winning Wine list has tremendous depth with over 3500 quality selections. Our vast library of wine has a variety of strengths, with particular emphasis on those varietals from California, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Oregon.
In addition to our Wine Spectator Grand Award, the Carter House also crafts its own highly coveted wine label, Carter Cellars. Specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon from the finest vineyards in Napa Valley, the award winning Carter Cellars wines have been noticed by Wine and Spirit magazine, Wine Spectator magazine, Wine Enthusiast, and Robert Parker receiving scores as high as 96 points from these industry critiques and raters.
One of these well-known critics once described the Carter Cellars wines as “swoon inducing”. While we’re not sure exactly where this quality originates – perhaps in the earth and sun of our low yield vineyards, or in the touch of our masterful winemakers – whatever it is that gives Carter Cellars wines the ability to stir the passions and overwhelm the senses. Carter Cellars is now made at our beautiful winery Napa Valley (Calistoga) California, Envy Wines, a joint venture between wine legend Nils Venge and Mark Carter.
