Reggae on the River

Every year thousands of people come to Humboldt County to attend Reggae on the River, a 3-day festival of performances from the most renowned Reggae artists in the world. Reggae on the River has been a Humboldt County pastime for 30 years and counting. Located in the heart of the Redwoods on the Eel River at Richardson Grove near the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Reggae on the River is one of the most majestic reggae festivals in the world.

This year, Reggae on the River is celebrating 33 years as one of the most iconic and longest running reggae music festivals on the planet, on the weekend of August 3rd, August 3-6 fans from around the globe will flock to Humboldt County for an unforgettable weekend of music, camping, community, and irie vibes on the banks of the Eel River. Reggae on the River features world famous reggae artist such as Israel Vibrations, Gentleman, Jimmy Cliff, Sly and Robbie, Alpha Blonde, Iration, Michael Rose (former lead singer of Black Uhuru) and many, many more.

Located on the beautiful Eel River, the Reggae on the River stage has such a gorgeous setting. Performances begin in the morning and run till the wee hours of the night. Many folks who attend the festival prefer to stay in more luxurious accommodations rather than Camping. Stay a night or two before or after Reggae on the River to enjoy the Redwood Coast. The Carter House Inns is centrally located on the Redwood Coast in Historic Old Town Eureka, California. Just a quick drive north you can enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged beaches in Trinidad.  Head further north to the Redwood National Park and experience the inspiring power of the ancient and majestic Redwood Forest. Take a drive on the Newton B Drury Parkway through the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and view some elk on your way being mystified by beautiful Fern Canyon.

Head south for a while and step back in time while you visit the Victorian Village of Ferndale. From there you can take a tour of the Lost Coast where the annual Tour of the Unknown Coast bike ride is held. Experience the serenity of King Range conservation area on your way through Northern California’s forgotten coast line.
